The information provided in this audio podcast is really outstanding! I highly recommend it to people who want to get a general understanding of 12 Step Programs. But to really understand how they work people should attend a few meetings in person.

Father Martin provides an interesting perspective on the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. But the best resource available for understanding the steps is the "12 Steps and 12 Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous". If you have not read this book, you should really check it out. You will learn a lot about the steps and working the program. Thereby, helping you maintain lasting sobriety.

The primary purpose of 12 Step Programs is to enable people to live drug free.

Working the Steps will help people resolve many issues in their lives, especially those that are connected to alcohol and drug use, but some problems may still persist to which 12 Step Programs are not designed to deal with.

Thank you for making this point. It is not a knock on 12 Step Programs, it's just that some issues may require outside help. Like depression and other issues. Thanks again and keep up the good work. Fight the good fight!
